the E-36 gen 1991 to 1997 have all wheel drive available but i believe it wasint called the x-drive until E-46 1998 to 2005. the first ever all wheel drive 3 series was the E-30 in 1986, that was on the 325ix … ix not xi. the awd are xi on the e46 and e90’s
